Girls on the Run New Hampshire. Then. Now. Always.

This year marks 25 years of Girls on the Run New Hampshire, and we’re celebrating all year long by looking back at how it started and where we are today. From a single inaugural season to tens of thousands of girls served across the state, our story is one of growth, community, and lasting impact. This first story kicks off our anniversary series with a look at the “then and now” of Girls on the Run NH, and the incredible journey in between.

 

Then & Now

2001 - The Beginning

  • Girls on the Run NH launches with a simple but powerful goal: making an impact on girls' lives in our community.

2002

  • 8 teams across multiple communities

  • 141 girls served in one year

2011

  • First year serving over 500 girls

  • 531 girls across New Hampshire participated in our program

2013 

  • First year serving over 1,000 girls

  • 1,155 girls across New Hampshire participated in our program

2015 

  • First year serving over 1,500 girls

  • 1,632 girls across New Hampshire participated in our program

2016 

  • First year serving all NH counties

2020 

  • When everything changed, we adapted

  • 140 girls served through virtual programming

2025 

  • 2,167 girls served

  • 149 teams

  • 484 volunteer coaches

  • $97,290 provided in financial aid

  • 218 pairs of running shoes given

2026 – 25 Years Strong

  • Partnership with Millennium Running 

  • Sneaker Soiree event planned for October 1, 2026

  • Over 26,000 girls served to date

  • More than 2,400 volunteer coaches to date

  • One incredible community
